George Benson Overview:
Character actor, George Benson, was born on Jan 11, 1911 in Cardiff, Wales. Benson died at the age of 72 on Jun 17, 1983 in London, England .
MINI BIO:
Fidgety, apologetic, brown-haired Welsh-born actor in British films, whose character, like those of America's Elisha Cook Jr., were life's losers, even if they smiled more often than most. Benson's film people, though, were not mean or vindictive; rather, they were shy, ineffectual, or menial, his pleasant features usually taking on a perplexed air at some stage of the film, at which his well-rounded tones would express distress. Trained at RADA, he was playing Shakespeare at 18. For such a familiar and welcome face, he made surprisingly few films.
