Legendary actress, Dinah Shore, was born Frances Rose Shore on Feb 29, 1916 in Winchester, TN. Shore died at the age of 78 on Feb 24, 1994 in Beverly Hills, CA .

MINI BIO:

Sweet-faced, strawberry-blonde, healthy-looking American singing star (a child entertainer, as Fanny Rose), whose rich, melodious adult voice captivated record buyers and radio audiences in the early 1940s. Her special appeal never came across in her few films. Married to George Montgomery from 1943 to 1960. A long association with Burt Reynolds, but a decade later was eventually broken off. Died from cancer.

HONORS and AWARDS:

She was honored with three stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the categories of Radio, Recording and Television. In addition, Shore was inducted into the TV Hall of Fame . Shore was never nominated for an Academy Award.

Dinah Shore Facts
A childhood bout with polio left her with a deformed leg. For the rest of her life, she wore either long dresses or slacks to cover this up.

She was a lifelong member of the Republican party.

Although she was not an original member of the cast of "Call Me Madam", she sang all the Ethel Merman songs on the original cast recording when Decca Records refused to release Ms. Merman from her contract to record the soundtrack for RCA.
