Dick Wesson Overview:

Character actor, Dick Wesson, was born Richard Lewis Wesson on Nov 19, 1922 in Boston, MA. Wesson died at the age of 73 on Apr 25, 1996 in Rancho Mirage, CA .

MINI BIO:

Toothy, crew-cut American nightclub comedian, often in endearingly panicky roles in his brief (10-film) contract years with Warner Brothers, during which his most successful part was as Francis Fryer in Calamity Jane. He provided likeable comedy relief in other films, and it was a surprise when he returned to radio, TV, and nightclub work in the mid-1950s. Cropped up a couple of times on screen in 1977, looking the same as 20 years before; but then, within three weeks of his 60h birthday, Wesson shot himself. Not to be confused with thick-set American supporting actor Dick Wessel (1910-1965), in dozens of films from 1934 on. Father of actress Eileen Wesson (1947-).
