Anne Schaefer was born on July10th, 1870 in St. Louis,
Missouri. She was one of the early pioneers of film acting, making her first
onscreen appearance in the 1909 film Grandmother.
She would continue an acting career that would last almost three decades
and survive the transition from silent films to talkies. By the time she made
her final film in 1938, with an uncredited role in The Spider's Web, Schaefer has appeared in over 150 films. She
would enter quite retirement in 1939. Anne Schaefer died on May 3rd,
1957. She was 86 years old.
