Nancy Price was a formidable British actress whose stern facial features allowed her portray a number of doyennes who made her stage debut in 1899. By the latter half of her long career, she was cast mostly as dominate, sinister women in which one could almost see the malevolence flashing from the eyes and the cobwebs trailing behind. Off the stage, however, Price was a musicologist, painter, author, climber, naturalist, world-wide traveler and quasi-mystic.
