Cinzia Zaccardi: Will you assist me? This is the necklace my mother wore the night my father proposed to her.
Angelo Donatello: Proposed???
Cinzia Zaccardi: Uh huh. I never had it on before.
Angelo Donatello: Excuse me, I -- I just remembered something... My brother's very sick -- very, very sick. I was, uh, I was bringing him these flowers. That's why I came over to talk to you about. Really. My apologies. Forgive me. Shoot me -- but I'm not taking you to no dance!

Tom Winters: She's a very nice girl, isn't she?
Angelo Donatello: Yeah, and that can louse up an evening faster than anything.

Tom Winters: Cinzia, Cinzia!
David Winters: Ssshh! You'll wake her.
Tom Winters: That's exactly what I intend to do. I have to be at the office in 45 minutes now.
David Winters: Then just shake her a little.
Tom Winters: Uh, uh, uh. You shake her.
David Winters: What's the matter, you scared?
Tom Winters: Yes, I'm scared.

Facts about

Original screenplay was written by Betsy Drake, Cary Grant's wife. Grant originally wanted it to star her but his extra-marital affair with Sophia Loren complicated the project. Drake's script was drastically re-written by two other writers to accommodate Loren and bears little resemblance to Drake's concept.
Cary Grant initially accepted his role in Houseboat (1958) because he was dating Sophia Loren, whom he was madly in love with. After she married someone else, Grant, heartbroken, wanted to back out. He couldn't, but the director made sure the production was a smooth one.
Parts of the movie, Houseboat, were filmed in Fort Washington, Maryland on the Potomac River and Piscataway Creek at the present site of Fort Washington marina.
