He had a granddaughter, Katina, from his daughter Roxanne.

Paid for his grandchildren to go to school.

Rogers reported that Clark Gable "once told Mary (Pickford), when we got married, that it wouldn't last six months" because he was 11 years younger than her. They were married for 42 years until her death in 1979. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as a flight training instructor. Played several musical instruments in all sections of the orchestra.
