Audrey Hepburn was a trendsetter in more ways than one. Of course, we all remember the actress for her style-ballet flats, ankle-cropped pants, slim black turtlenecks, pixie haircuts...the list goes on. But did you know that she shared in one of the most celebrity-worthy trends of all? Decades before it was something to fill the pages of a tabloid or be plastered all over social media? Before Jennifer Aniston married Justin Theroux, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher eloped, and Mary-Kate Olsen finally tied the knot with Olivier Sarkozy, the one-and-only Audrey Hepburn had a top-secret wedding of her own.
Ten letters belonging to the actress and style icon have recently been released as part of an upcoming auction for Bonhams, as part of their entertainment memorabilia sale on June 29. All were penned to Hepburn's friend Sir Felix Aylmer, and all contain little-known secrets about Hepburn's life between 1951 and 1960. The set is expected to sell for nearly £4,000.
