Sidney Poitier's life is full of momentous achievements, so it's fitting that he be honored with his second lifetime achievement award in one year.

The legendary actor, who in February received the BAFTA lifetime achievement award, was the focus of a tribute on Saturday in Los Angeles, where he was presented with the Inspirational Lifetime Achievement Award at the 30th annual Carousel of Hope Ball.

"My wife and my children mean the most to me," Poitier, 89, told PEOPLE when describing what he felt was his greatest achievement, adding that he couldn't even begin to list the myriad reasons why. "You will be here for quite a while," he said.
