He was one of America's most beloved comedians, entertaining troops across the world for decades. His specials - especially his Christmas specials - were appointment viewing on television. And although he was born in England, he always considered Cleveland home.
He's Leslie Townes Hope - better known as Bob, an entertainment legend and the subject of a new exhibit at the Cleveland History Center, "Bob Hope: An American Treasure."
The traveling exhibit, which runs until the end of June, is from the World Golf Hall of Fame (he is a 1983 inductee), and could previously be seen in the Palm Springs Air Museum and the National World War II Museum. It's a collection of more than 170 pieces that show Hope as a beloved entertainer, TV and movie star and yes, as a golfer.
