Before Singin' in the Rain and silver-screen stardom, Debbie Reynolds lived in a modest home with her parents and older brother in Burbank, California. It was in that very town's pageant, at age 16, where Warner Brothers talent scouts first discovered the budding singer and actress.
Reynolds recently died at the age of 84, just a day after her daughter and beloved Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher passed away at 60.
Born in El Paso, Texas, Reynolds, along with her family, moved into the Burbank home in 1940, when she was eight years old.
As Reynolds explained in her 1988 autobiography, Debbie: My Life, "Daddy paid $250 for the lot on Evergreen. With a $4,000 loan from the FHA, my parents built a small, simple house with three bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room, and a kitchen. Daddy did all the finishing, including the wiring and the plumbing, and of course the painting."
Now, after several renovations, the 1,245-square-foot abode still features three bedrooms, but one additional bathroom.
