"Lux Radio Theater" broadcast a 60 minute radio adaptation of the movie onOctober 2, 1944 with Walter Brennan, Charlotte Greenwood,Jeanne Crain and June Haver reprising their film roles.
Although Lon McCallister is "introduced" in the credits as one of the "three young players in their first featured roles," he was a featured player in Stage Door Canteen.
Early showings (from 14 June 1944 through 28 June 1944) occurred at several locations in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky, before the national release in July 1944.
The horse racing scenes for this movie were shot on location at the Sandusky County Ohio Fairgrounds in Fremont Ohio.
The St. Petersburg Florida Evening Independent of August 10, 1944, reviewed the movie and had this to say about June Haver: "This June Haver is young and pretty with a nearly perfect figure which was displayed with a lavishness that makes one wonder how the Hays Office ever let it get by the censors. June wore fewer clothes, in two sequences, than I have seen anybody wear in a picture since the Hays Office took over. As she is decidedly worth looking at in that very scanty attire, the wonder is that the footage was not eliminated."
Three cast members in studio records/casting call lists did not appear or were not identifiable in the movie. These were (with their character names, if any): Sam McDaniel (First Swipe), Eddy Waller (Bill) and Joe Bernard. A modern source also lists 'Walter Baldwin' (Ed), George Cleveland (Sam) and Matt McHugh (Dave), all of whom were not seen. The character of "Ed" was played by Francis Ford; Cleveland was offered a part, but turned it down to appear in another movie.
