What makes when “Harry Met Sally” a classic is the acting of Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan and the direction of Rob Reiner.
I have not seen this movie yet, but the reason I want to see it is because: I’ve heard it’s a great drama/ romance movie.
It will be a classic, might as well celebrate it as such now! So many quotable lines, heck, quotable *reminiscences* ( Reiner on his coaching Ryan through the O scene), the interstitials of the old couples.. it all makes for perennial enjoyment upon replay – a classic.
What makes this movie a classic is that, it is not a typical Romance Movie.
It is about a friendship that, eventually turns into Love.Harry and Sally are good friends that share things friends do about their relationships etc. but over time they see that perhaps they should pursue a romance with each other.
The movie had great moments such as Meg doing the impersonation of an orgasm. Famous line by the Director, Rob Reiner’s Mother
“I’ll have what she’s having “.
She stole that scene.
I want to see this on the big screen as I am a huge Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan fan
Oh I love meg Ryan! This is a great movie with a classic love story. So cool to see these classic movies on the big screen!

It is a classic for a few reasons. The dinner scene is iconic. Also, the acting of both leads is timeless. Just a great love story.
It is classic because of its memorable lines and its all American story. Not to mention its charm.
This film is iconic. The writing, the humor, the chemistry between the leads. Nora Ephron is a comedic genius, Billy Crystal showed us he could play heartfelt scenes, and Meg Ryan gave it her all. What a great film.

What makes “When Harry Met Sally” a classic is the acting of Billy Crystal & Meg Ryan along with the support of Carrie Fisher & Bruno Kirby who just enhance the performances of Crystal and Ryan. Rob Reiner just brings Nora Ephron’s screenplay to life on the screen with heart and honesty along with the feeling that you have known the 2 characters all your life or even know people like them . This film has a timeless feel to it as it almost a period piece. No matter how many times you see it , it is still funny and holds up with the passing of time.
A classic is a classic, no matter the era. All the elements are there: boy meets girl, boy annoys girl, boy finally wins over girl. GREAT performances. If I’m quoting a movie practically every day? You bet that’s a classic. (And I still miss Nora Ephron!)
This movie isn’t just a boy meets girl movie, it emphasizes the importance of friendship in relationships and that the universe has a way to bring those meant to be back together. It isn’t just a basic romantic movie, but one that helps you see the bigger picture.
I think When Harry Met Sally is a classic because of the chemistry between Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal. The museum scene showcases this..,”But I would be proud to partake of your pecan pie.” They are fully believable as friends and as a romantic couple. The debate over if men and women can be just friends is an interesting one, and the ensuing battle of the sexes is terribly entertaining. The film also makes NYC look especially gorgeous. I relate to the movie personally because my husband and I were good friends before we became a couple. As we got to know each other he became my favorite friend, but no one could make me crazier either! The movie also has the best and most beautiful ending of any romantic comedy ever, with Billy Crystal running through the city on New Year’s to make that perfect declaration of real love. It makes me tear up everytime.
This movie is a classic because it has iconic performances and was created using memorable writing/direction.

The chemistry between the two is fabulous. It’s like you are stepping into their lives which you think is so real during the movie. Reality verse fiction. This is what makes it a classic.
