About the book: Written by musical theater historian, Dominic Symonds, “We’ll Have Manhattan” provides unprecedented insight into the unexamined years of Rodgers and Hart’s partnership, from their first meeting in 1919 through their decision in the early 1930s to try their luck in Hollywood. The book also provides an analytical commentary on their professional development and its influence on the changing landscape of the American musical.

I really had to give that some thought. I think my favorite aspect of their music is the clever phrasing. Sometimes both the melody and the lyrics do something so unexpected that you just start humming that little part and it makes you feel so clever to have enjoyed it. That probably makes no sense but I know what I mean. Now, more coffee. Thanks
Hi Carl, I’m happy to say that you just won a copy of the book! I will email you later today about it… 🙂
Lovely music and lyrics. I’m a sucker for a good love song. My Romance and Isn’t it Romantic are my favorites.
‘Bewitched, Bothered, Bewildered’ Mimi, Blue Moon, My Funny Valentine and on and on. What’s not to love about Rodgers and Hart? Their lyrics and music simply make me and others HAPPY! Listening to Ella and Frank singing R&H standards is pure joy! Ahhh!
