About The Film: Newly Restored in 3-D by 3-D Film Archive from 4K scans by Paramount Pictures Archives! The Maze is a 1953 atmospheric horror film in 3-D, directed by William Cameron Menzies (Invaders from Mars, Things to Come) and starring Richard Carlson (The Magnetic Monster) as Scotsman Gerald MacTeam (Carlson) who abruptly breaks off his engagement to pretty Kitty Murray (Veronica Hurst) after receiving word of his uncle’s death and inheriting a mysterious castle in the Scottish Highlands. Kitty refuses to accept the broken engagement and travels with her aunt (Katherine Emery) to the castle. When they arrive, they discover that Gerald has suddenly aged and his manner has changed significantly. After a series of mysterious events occur in both the castle and the hedge maze outside, they invite a group of friends, including a doctor, to the castle, hoping they can help Gerald with whatever ails him. Menzies was known for his very dimensional style, focusing many shots in layers – The Maze was his final film as production designer and director.

Good Luck!
–Annmarie Gatti for Classic Movie Hub
I have a 3D TV and collect 3D movies. The ones from the 1950’s are the best though because items etc really jump out at you 3D films today are all about depth and perspective and the 3D affect is not very good. While many of the 50’s 3D movies weren’t great movies they were great fun so I’d love to see “The Maze” in 3D. Besides, it was directed by William Cameron Menzies who also did “Invaders From Mars”. I remember seeing that as a kid and it scared me senseless.
I’ve always wanted to see “The Maze,” especially in 3D! I’m a huge fan of Menzies’ “Invaders From Mars” – phenomenal production design, made more remarkable by it’s low budget (and I much prefer his work here over “Gone With The Wind,” but I digress). I have to believe “The Maze” is in that league.
It’s great that Kino is still releasing titles in the format, despite no new TV’s, other than projection sets, supporting it. Keep ’em coming!

Thank you for the restoration and the link! Looks like I have some reading to do tonight.
Thanks for having the Maze 3D Blu-ray giveaway! I have actually never seen this movie before. But I am a huge fan of classic horror! This is one that I missed! I would love to be able to win a copy to enjoy! Thank you for the chance!
Hi Ronald, for some reason I can’t find your tweet or your twitter account. Please confirm that you tweeted or let me know if you no longer have a twitter account. Thanks!
Hi Annmarie, thanks for pointing this out to me. Yes, I still have a twitter acct., and I tweeted out the giveaway tweet back on May 7th, 2018. And I cannot locate my tweet as well. :-/ ..I will do another search for it. But I went ahead and tweeted out the giveaway tweet again, here’s a link to my new tweet: https://twitter.com/Haunted_Lair/status/997933390790672385
I guess there was an issue on twitter’s end. Frustrating.
Thanks Ronald for handling. Sometimes it’s tough to search on Twitter… I’m not sure why…
Yeah, I’m not sure what’s going on with Twitter..I’ve discovered that some of my tweets will disappear (at random, though infrequently) the following day. And I suspect that I can’t be the only one this happens to. It has to be a glitch on their end somehow. In any case, I’m happy that you pointed this out to me. And that you still counted me into this great giveaway by accepting my new tweet that I sent out, since the one I sent out initially cannot be found. Thanks again, Annmarie! I sincerely appreciate it! 🙂
I currently own a Blu-ray player that can play 3-D discs, yet I do not own a 3-D TV for some reason. But hey, at least it would be nice to prepare just in case I actually wind up with a 3-D television. After all, I do remember seeing the 1961 3-D film “The Mask” in theaters a few years ago and I found the experience fascinating at the time. That said, I am sure that I would enjoy “The Maze” in 3-D just as much.
I want to win this Blu because I’ve never seen a 3D movie on my TV before! True story. Also, I love wacky horror films and Richard Carlson, so I MUST see this.
I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.
Well, gazing at the cover I’m riveted by the green dress and its structural “lift and separate” ability, but on a deeper level I was caught by “inheriting a mysterious castle in the Scottish Highlands”. As a girl in sunny Southern California I fell in love with all things Scots, especially the Highlands and the tradition of resistance to oppression, with its defiance and mist and passion. Sigh.
Thanks for entering Gloria and Good Luck 🙂
I had never heard of it prior to seeing the impending release announcement online.
The Maze is absolutely bonkers, and I need to add this to my movie library. The ending is priceless.
I would love to win this because I am a true horror fanatic, no matter the years. And after all this cgi mumbo jumbo superhero movies, I like the true art of cinema in story and superb acting. Thanks for the chance. Good luck all 🙂
I would love to win the new Kino/Paramount Blu-Ray of William Cameron Menzies’ “The Maze” (1953) because it has been years since I’ve seen “The Maze.” I’ve seen the film (a 2-D airing) before back on the old American Movie Classics (AMC) cable network in the late 1990s and have never seen it again ever since. It was quite an interesting oddity and would love to see the new restoration of Menzies’ feature (even though I do not have a 3-D Blu-Ray player). I think it would be a fascinating addition to my home library of classic features on Blu-Ray and DVD.
I want to win because I have never seen this movie and would love to see it!
Hi Elena, I can’t seem to find your tweet. Please confirm that you tweeted, or let me know if you don’t have a twitter account. Thanks!
3 dimensions!? The Maze!? Directed by someone whose last name is Menzies!? Why WOULDN’T I want this blu-ray!
Amusingly enough, I’ve been confusing The Maze (1953) with The Mask (1961) for a few years and it’s very likely because I’ve only seen one of them (guess which one?).
g.
I’v only seen this rarity once, and certainly not in 3-D. Would love to see it again, looking better than ever.
I love this era of nuclear era horror films and more importantly I have not seen this one!
It looks so good! Also Richard Carlson is great!
I haven’t seen this one but it sounds like a lot of fun with its eerie atmosphere, and it’s in 3D!
I would love to win this 3d Blu Ray.. It’s my goal to experience all the 3d I can while I still can and I have never seen this one. Would love to win!
I would like to win this to show my wife what horror in the 50’s is, how fun it can be, and why we need to watch more of it!! And I love film restoration projects, so this is perfect for us!
This movie is a real hoot. I saw a theatrical screening of it in the early 1970’s, so this would be a cool kick-back!
I do not have a Twitter account, so I am posting here to enter but cannot tweet the message.
I haven’t seen it yet, but looking forward to it. Thanks for entering and Good Luck 🙂
I want to win it because the movie is awesome

Thanks so much for entering and Good Luck 🙂
I love old movies and haven’t seen this one. It’d be great to win and see something I haven’t yet.
I saw The Maze in the movie theater when I was about 8 or 9 years old. I was very impressed that someone’s relative was a giant frog! And of course they gave a scientific explanation that I didn’t understand. Through the years, I have often remembered this film. I love horror movies, and this film is rarely shown.
Hi Kay, can’t seem to find your tweet — but it seems like there’s something going awry with twitter lately. If you could just take a minute and confirm that you tweeted I’d appreciate it. Thanks!
I love watching older films, and I want to watch as many as I can. Never seen this one, but would really love to.
Why do you want to win this Blu-ray?
This sounds like a terrific film! I love older films! I have never seen it, but it sounds like a fun and exciting film!
I have not heard of this movie and would love to watch it! I do have a 3D tv too so this would be great!
I saw this film recently projected at CINEVENT, and the ending is wonderfully ludicrous. It has to be one of the stupidest mystery reveals in the history of Hollywood. That doesn’t mean it’s bad. In fact, it is a lot of fun.
I would love to win this because I am a huge classic horror films fan!!
Thank you so much for the chance.
I would love to win this because I am a collector of classic horror films and I do not have this one yet.
I never saw it so it would be great to win this. I love classic movies!
