Bonhams Auction “TCM Presents … There’s No Place Like Hollywood”
I was so excited to be able to stop by the Bonhams TCM auction yesterday, and although I didn’t participate in any of the bidding, I was able to view all of the one-of-a-kind classic collectibles on display and, witness, first-hand, all of the bidding. I was also fortunate enough to be there when the iconic Casablanca piano went up for bids — which, much to my surprise, started at an opening bid of 1.6 million dollars (wow), and (not to my surprise) eventually sold for 2.9 million, after which, adding the auction premium charge of $513,000, totaled out at $3,413,000.
That said, I’d like to share some pictures of the spectacular items sold yesterday at Bonhams, in no particular order… (please note all prices include premium charges)…

I’m trying to find out what the chair from Maltese Falcon sold for last year. Do you know? I was told the Falcon sold for $4 million. If you have any photos or info on last year’s auction I would love it.
I’m not sure that the chair was actually sold because it’s still listed on the site without details as to the final selling price: http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21427/lot/224/
The Maltese Falcon itself sold for $4,085,000… http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21427/lot/225/
And here is a link to my post about last year’s auction: http://www.classicmoviehub.com/blog/the-stuff-dreams-are-made-of-legendary-maltese-falcon-sells-for-4-million-dollars-at-tcm-bonhams-auction/
