I adore Nelson and Jeanette.
You need to get the book “Sweethearts by Sharon Rich.” It was outstanding and I couldn’t put it down. One of the most moving and emotional love stories I have ever read.
Oh, thanks so much, I haven’t read it yet…
I saw a movie decades ago with a “Tosca” plot. The soprano and tenor singing the .onstage lovers are indeed lovers offstage as well. The conductor is jealous, and as the final act nears its end, he slips a revolver from the pages of the score and shoots the tenor just as the onstage firing squad does. The soprano keeps to the pl0t and finds her real lover dead!
All I remember otherwise is that it was in Technicolor, I think. Anyone?
I just came across a DVD for the movie “Bitter Sweet” which features Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy. Shouldn’t it be on the list of their films?
Apologies — Bittersweet is on the list. I skimmed it too fast.
