  1. Chris Davis says:

His resiliency, his tradgedy, most of all his artistry working when his contemporiws were just memories in biographies and magazine articles

  2. KittyPride says:

I love the simplicity of his characters and the sweetness he could display without words

  3. Loni says:

The way he made political statements through his brilliant comedy. He was a pioneer in the field, and there probably would be no Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert without Charlie Chaplin.

  4. Victoria Rendon says:

I love his honesty. He was never afraid to make a statement that he felt needed to be heard.

  5. Carl says:

I enjoy the physicality of his characters onscreen. When you see him skate, or dance, or in a fight sequence it’s just amazing what he could do with his body. Thanks again.

  6. I love the Tramp’s tenacity and Chaplin’s creativity.

  7. Christina Sharpe says:

I just love how he put his all into every project he worked on. He was so involved in every aspect of it.

  8. Joan O'Malley says:

The Tramp for his physicality yet grace and his perseverance.

  9. stephanie torres says:

That one of his favorite places to visit was the Montecito Inn in Santa Barbara, CA .

  10. I like how funny he was and he didn’t have to even talk – I wish some comedians were like that nowadays.

  11. TocksNedlog says:

How he expressed his joy of life with every movement, every gesture.

  12. Amber Grindstaff says:

I love watching his movies.. deep emotions in all

  13. Sanjanaa says:

His fearlessness, his creativity, his humor, his athleticism, his mustache…honestly I could probably list a million things about him. Most of all, though, I love that he was the one that got me into silent movies. Without him, I never would have watched a single one.

  14. Michele Robertson says:

I watch Chaplin films with my dad who, as a youngster, thought Chaplin was the best thing since the automobile. My pop, as we call him–at 86, still bowls over with the laughter of a child at the antics of Chaplin’s comedic genius!

    • Annmarie Gatti says:

My dad introduced me to Charlie Chaplin when I was a kid too! Via The Gold Rush… Still love that movie to this day 🙂

  15. Penny Koutsogeorgas says:

His brilliance, his passion….and his heart.

  16. Timeless comedy. Genius innovator.

  17. Barry P. says:

I love how Chaplin’s Little Tramp embodies the everyman, and his struggle to triumph in a world that’s frequently cruel and unjust.

  18. bill norris says:

the way he did sight gags and falls…. awesome!

  19. When I saw the Broadway musical based on the life of Charlie Chaplin ( http://wp.me/p4kzW6-j2 ) I was reminded of his stubborn insistence on maintaining his artistic vision at all costs.

  20. Aurora says:

Hi genius – and by that I mean the fact he can – by way of one work – touch deeply upon the entire range of emotions. He makes us cry from laughter and by heartbreak. Astounding to even consider!
