“We’ll Have Manhattan” – April Book Giveaway!
Ah… “Manhattan,” “My Funny Valentine,” “Blue Moon,” “Bewitched,” “The Lady is a Tramp,” “Isn’t It Romantic?” — shall I go on…
Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart are one of the defining duos of musical theater, contributing dozens of classic songs to the Great American Songbook and working together on more than 40 shows before Hart’s death in 1943. With hit after hit on both Broadway and London’s West End, they produced many of the celebrated songs of the ‘2os and ’30s that remain popular favorites today. And, of course, if you’re a Classic Movie Fan, you can hear their wonderful songs in hundreds upon hundreds of movies and television shows from the early 1930s until… well…now…
…..
So, now, here’s the good news for CMH fans…
I am happy to announce that “We’ll Have Manhattan: The Early Work of Rodgers & Hart” is available in stores now… And I am even happier to say that CMH will be giving away SIX copies of the book in April, courtesy of Oxford University Press.
About the book: Written by musical theater historian, Dominic Symonds, “We’ll Have Manhattan” provides unprecedented insight into the unexamined years of Rodgers and Hart’s partnership, from their first meeting in 1919 through their decision in the early 1930s to try their luck in Hollywood. The book also provides an analytical commentary on their professional development and its influence on the changing landscape of the American musical.
That said, stay tuned for more details…We’ll make the first official contest announcement on Monday April 6 right here on this blog…
And, by the way, you can follow Oxford University Press Music on twitter at @OUPMusic.
