Classic Movie Legend Tribute: Anne Bancroft

Happy Birthday to Classic Move Legend, Anne Bancroft, Born September 17, 1931!

There are some quotes in film history that can’t help but conjure up an iconic image. “Toto, I think we’re not in Kansas anymore,” brings to mind the magical Land of Oz. “As God is my witness, I’ll never go hungry again,” – you can almost see Scarlett looking up towards the heavens in front of Tara. And of course, “Mrs. Robinson, are you trying to seduce me” immediately recalls a shapely pair of legs and a flabbergasted Dustin Hoffman. Those legs – that spawned a million fantasies – belong, of course, to birthday girl Anne Bancroft. Although I am pleased with her place in the annals of film history existing in such an immediately recognizable way, sometimes I can’t help but feel that her career, as a whole, gets lost behind the image of “everybody’s favorite cougar.” So, to celebrate this Icon’s birthday, let us look at some of her less seducing but equally as legendary roles.
