MINI BIO:
Jolly, round-faced, beetle-browed American actor from Indiana. After heading for Hollywood straight from university, he got a role as a radio operator in Happy Landing (1934) and, perhaps inspired, switched to radio where his became a familiar voice before he returned to films in 1940, and scrambled for screen space thereafter, as benign bartenders, perplexed policemen, and hearty colleagues. Perhaps best remembered as the all-too-affable mobile home salesman who sold Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz The Long, Long Trailer, he enhanced his income considerably in his later years with work for TV commercials, both before the camera and with voiceovers. Not surprising work for one of film-land's fastest talkers.
