A comedy support actor in films who played Jane Russell's suitor in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) and Nancy Olson's stingy, mean-spirited pursuer who eventually loses her to Fred MacMurray in The AbsentMinded Professor (1961).

Worked as an announcer for CBS radio while in his teens.

Was a part of Orson Welles' Mercury Theater. Debuted on stage in Welles' 1937 production of "Julius Caesar."
