MINI BIO:
Tough but hopeful; those were the characters that this fair-haired American actress played in her heyday, even before she became world famous as the "oomph girl." She'd been kicked around, but was still an optimist: the mold suited the wartime years, and the wide-faced, mockingly-smiling star herself, who had appeared in numerous small roles before hitting the big time. Married to Edward Norris (1911-2002) from 1936 to 1939 and George Brent from 1942 to 1943, first and second of three. Died from cancer. Ann Sheridan Quotes:
Jack Norworth: You didn't have to do that.
Nora Bayes: I know. That's why I did it.
Judy Nolan: Can't you understand? It's not only Phillips, it's a whole parade of Phillipses and Barbaras, and Heaven knows how many Mrs. Phillipses. You're not a human being; you're a machine. You're right; you're always right! That's what's wrong with you!
Lee Donley: [to Nick] I don't want to put you out. I'll take in washing for my room and board.
Wally Davis: [slightly laciviously] Well, I got a couple of buttons that could stand sewing.
Lee Donley: [sarcastically] Shirts, I suppose.
