MINI BIO:
Transylvanian-born actor of dominant and rather forbidding personality. After becoming a romantic idol of the Hungarian stage, he fled the country in the face of an oppressive regime and ended in Hollywood, where his performance as Dracula type-cast him in horror for the rest of his career. His later years were dogged by a (finally victorious) battle against drug addiction. Died from a heart attack. Five times married. He was honored with one star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the category of Motion Pictures. In addition, Lugosi was immortalized on a US postal stamp in 1997. Lugosi was never nominated for an Academy Award.
