MINI BIO:
Strikingly beautiful green-eyed brunette American actress, built by MGM into their last great sex symbol. She remained best as characters whose passionate natures ruled their destinies, but was also good at expressing cynicism and world weariness. The glamorous image persisted into her three marriages, all to entertainers: Mickey Rooney (1942-1943), bandleader Artie Shaw (1945-1947), and Frank Sinatra (1951-1957). After her cinema career was over, she appeared in the TV mini-series A.D. (1984), The Long Hot Summer (1985), and Harem (1986). She died from pneumonia.
