Wilfrid Hyde White was a roguishly avuncular British actor with inimitable sly, drawling tones. Almost always cast as affable upper-class fellows, but sometimes with a cunning streak, he shuffled his way with deceptive casualness through 50 years of films. He is billed in some of his 1930's films simply as "Hyde White." One of his many film roles was as Colonel Hugh Pickering in 1965's "My Fair Lady."
