MINI BIO:

British actor whose name become familiar to the public only after his starring role in the television series Catweazle when he was well into his forties. Later, he was also cannily cast as The Crowman in another children's TV series, Worzel Gummidge. Extensive stage work, especially in Shakespearian roles, preceded his entry into feature-film parts in 1953, after which he wandered skeletally through some 60 movies - never better cast than as one of the emaciated prisoners-of-war in King Rat.
